Although she started as a journalist, she has worked in marketing/PR, hospitality asset management, tourism management, international corporate training, public school counseling, private counseling, and as a small business owner.
As the current director of the Small Business Center in Pamlico County, she advocates for the area’s economic landscape, especially the small business community and entrepreneurs. Having run small businesses, she realizes the ongoing operational demands placed on small business owners and their staff in a typical economic climate. Add post-Florence recovery challenges, pandemic setbacks and the challenges of adopting new technologies; small businesses and startups need regular advocacy, strategic planning, and leadership.
